Workshops on the funding, support and delivery models for heat network journey are being held by the Heat Network Support Unit (HNSU).
Workshop 1 – Introduction to Heat Network Project Development
A workshop hosted by the HNSU and led by Zero Waste Scotland, to inform organisations of the available support and funding for heat network development. This workshop would be informative for local authorities and other public sector organisations (but not exclusively), especially LHEES teams, energy officers, senior officers with estates and sustainability / climate change responsibilities.
The workshop will include:
- Introduction to the Heat Network Support Unit.
- Overview of the legislative scene.
- Technical presentation – What is a heat network?
- Presentations from case study organisations who have previously received funding through the scheme.
- An opportunity to meet and discuss potential projects and any barriers to implementation with peers, government and technical advisors.

Workshop 2 – Introduction to Heat Network Delivery Models
A workshop hosted by the HNSU and led by Scottish Futures Trust, to inform organisations of various delivery models/commercial structures which facilitate heat network development. This workshop is exclusively for local authorities, other public sector organisations and social housing providers, especially senior officers (directors and heads of service) with responsibility for finance, procurement, legal, economic development and heat network project delivery.
The workshop will include:
- Drivers: Policy and legislation – Why should local authorities and other public bodies act now?
- Heat network project development and the role of public sector bodies.
- Selecting a heat network delivery model to suit your organisation and project objectives.
- Case study presentation from an organisation which has successfully delivered heat networks in Scotland.
- An opportunity to meet and discuss potential projects and any barriers to implementation with peers, government and technical advisors.
The same workshop will be repeated at different venues on the following dates. Spaces at this event are limited.
